Description
Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. Antoninianus (23.5mm, 5.29 g, 6h). Uncertain mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P I F AVG [sic], radiate and draped bust right / PA X AVG, Pax standing left, holding olive branch and vertical scepter. RIC V –. Toned partial silvering and dark brown-red patina, minor weakness and spot of roughness. Near EF. An interesting error in the obverse legend with the ending no doubt intended as P F I AVG as in Pius Felix Invictus Augustus.
